The Study Corner – Lalbaug

These Terms govern registration, membership, access and use of The Study Corner premises and facilities. Please read them carefully before purchasing a pass or membership.

Please read these Terms & Conditions before registering, purchasing a membership or using The Study Corner facilities. By using our services, you agree to follow the rules mentioned below.

1. Membership & Registration

1.1 All passes and memberships are strictly non-transferable and may only be used by the registered Member.

1.2 Members must provide accurate and complete information while registering.

1.3 The Study Corner may require a valid government-issued or other acceptable ID proof for identity verification.

1.4 Entry is permitted only to registered Members having a valid and active pass or membership.

1.5 A Member must not share, transfer, sell, lend, or permit another person to use their membership or access credentials.

1.6 Any misuse or attempted misuse of membership or access credentials may result in suspension or termination of access.

2. Membership Fees, Cancellations & Refunds

2.1 All passes and membership fees are generally non-refundable and non-transferable once purchased or activated.

2.2 For memberships having a validity exceeding one month, a request for early cancellation may be considered solely at the discretion of The Study Corner management.

2.3 If such cancellation is approved, charges equivalent to one full month of unlimited access shall first be deducted. Any remaining eligible balance, if applicable, may thereafter be adjusted or refunded at the discretion of management.

2.4 No refund, extension, or compensation shall ordinarily be provided for unused days, personal absence, travel, change in study schedule, examinations ending earlier than expected, or a Member’s inability or decision not to use the facility.

3. Operating Hours & Access

3.1 The standard operating hours of The Study Corner are 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, subject to the Member’s selected membership plan.

3.2 Members may access the facility only during the timings permitted under their respective membership/pass.

3.3 Operating hours may be temporarily changed due to maintenance, safety requirements, building-related issues, government directions, public holidays, emergencies, or other circumstances reasonably requiring such changes.

3.4 Management reserves the right to regulate entry and access where reasonably necessary for safety, security, maintenance, discipline, or proper operation of the facility.

4. Strict Silent-Zone Policy

4.1 The Study Corner is a strict silent study zone.

4.2 Talking, discussions, meetings, loud activities, playing audio aloud, or any other activity that may disturb another Member is strictly prohibited within the study area.

4.3 Mobile phones must be kept on silent mode inside the study area.

4.4 Phone calls must not be attended inside the study area and should only be made or received in areas permitted by management.

4.5 Members must use headphones/earphones when listening to audio, provided that the sound is not audible to or disturbing other Members.

5. Food, Beverages & Cleanliness

5.1 Eating food, meals, snacks, or any other edible items inside the study area is strictly prohibited.

5.2 Food may only be consumed in the designated meal/lunch area, where provided.

5.3 Beverages may be permitted at study desks, preferably in properly closed or spill-resistant containers.

5.4 Members are required to maintain cleanliness and hygiene within the premises at all times.

5.5 Waste must be disposed of only in designated bins.

5.6 Members may be held responsible for reasonable cleaning, repair, or replacement costs arising from spills, stains, damage, or misuse caused by them.

6. Desks & Seating

6.1 Unless specifically included in a particular membership plan, desk allocation shall be on a first-come, first-served basis.

6.2 A desk shall not be considered permanently reserved for any Member unless expressly provided under the selected membership plan.

6.3 Members must not occupy additional desks or reserve seats for other persons.

6.4 Members are expected to use desks and furniture responsibly and leave the space clean after use.

7. Personal Belongings

7.1 Members are advised not to leave books, laptops, mobile phones, chargers, stationery, bags, valuables, or other personal belongings unattended.

7.2 Members should remove their belongings from the desk after completing their use of the facility, unless a specific storage facility has been provided.

7.3 The Study Corner reserves the right to remove unattended belongings from desks or common areas and place them in a designated storage or lost-and-found area.

7.4 The Study Corner shall not be responsible for any loss, theft, misplacement, or damage to personal belongings brought onto or left within the premises.

8. Internet & Wi-Fi Facility

8.1 Wi-Fi/internet connectivity is provided as an additional facility primarily for study, educational, research, and professional purposes.

8.2 The Study Corner maintains multiple internet connections to support service continuity. However, uninterrupted internet connectivity, availability, or speed cannot be guaranteed at all times.

8.3 Internet services may be temporarily interrupted or affected due to Internet Service Provider (ISP) outages, network failures, maintenance, technical problems, infrastructure failures, telecom disruptions, or other circumstances beyond the reasonable control of The Study Corner.

8.4 Where all available internet connections are simultaneously unavailable due to an external or ISP-related issue, The Study Corner shall make reasonable efforts to have connectivity restored but shall not be responsible for the duration of such external outages.

8.5 Members shall not use The Study Corner’s internet connection for unlawful activities, piracy, prohibited content, unauthorised downloads, illegal streaming, hacking, cyber abuse, or any activity that may compromise the network, systems, or other users.

8.6 Management reserves the right to restrict or suspend Wi-Fi access in cases of misuse, excessive usage affecting other Members, security concerns, or unlawful activity.

9. CCTV Surveillance & AI-Assisted Monitoring

9.1 Members acknowledge that The Study Corner premises are under CCTV surveillance for safety, security, operational, and administrative purposes.

9.2 The Study Corner may also use AI-assisted video analytics and technology systems in conjunction with its cameras and other systems.

9.3 Such systems may be used for legitimate purposes including:

  • security and safety monitoring;
  • access management;
  • Member entry and exit records;
  • attendance monitoring;
  • occupancy and facility-usage analysis;
  • prevention and investigation of security incidents;
  • enforcement of facility rules; and
  • improvement of facility operations and Member experience.

9.4 By registering and/or using The Study Corner premises, the Member acknowledges and consents to CCTV surveillance and AI-assisted monitoring for the purposes stated above, subject to applicable law.

9.5 CCTV footage, access records, attendance information, system-generated records, and related information may be retained for a reasonable period as necessary for security, operational, dispute-resolution, legal, or regulatory purposes.

9.6 Access to such information shall be restricted to authorised personnel and authorised service providers where reasonably necessary for operating, maintaining, securing, or supporting the facility and its systems.

9.7 Relevant footage or records may be disclosed where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, lawful government or law-enforcement requests, legal proceedings, or for investigation of security incidents or disputes.

9.8 The Study Corner will take reasonable measures to protect such information against unauthorised access, use, or disclosure.

10. Member Conduct

10.1 Members are expected to maintain appropriate, respectful, and professional conduct within the premises.

10.2 Harassment, intimidation, threatening behaviour, abusive language, fighting, discrimination, inappropriate conduct, or behaviour causing discomfort, disturbance, or safety concerns to other Members or staff shall not be permitted.

10.3 Members must respect the privacy and personal space of other Members.

10.4 Members must comply with reasonable instructions issued by The Study Corner staff or management relating to safety, security, cleanliness, discipline, and operation of the facility.

11. Prohibited Activities

11.1 Smoking, vaping, tobacco consumption, alcohol, narcotics, or possession or consumption of any prohibited substance is strictly prohibited within The Study Corner premises.

11.2 Members must not damage, misuse, tamper with, disconnect, move without permission, or interfere with:

  • furniture or desks;
  • electrical equipment;
  • air-conditioning equipment;
  • CCTV cameras;
  • AI or monitoring equipment;
  • Wi-Fi/network equipment;
  • access-control systems;
  • fire and safety equipment; or
  • any other property belonging to or installed at The Study Corner.

11.3 A Member responsible for deliberate or negligent damage may be required to bear the reasonable repair or replacement cost.

12. Safety & Emergencies

12.1 Members must comply with all fire-safety, emergency, evacuation, and security instructions displayed or communicated within the premises.

12.2 Emergency exits, passages, stairways, entrances, and access points must not be obstructed.

12.3 Any accident, suspicious activity, damaged equipment, electrical problem, safety concern, or emergency should be immediately reported to The Study Corner staff or management.

13. Facilities & Service Availability

13.1 The Study Corner shall make reasonable efforts to maintain its facilities and amenities in proper working condition.

13.2 However, uninterrupted availability of internet/Wi-Fi, electricity, air-conditioning, lighting, charging points, water supply, lifts/common building facilities, or any other facility or amenity cannot be guaranteed at all times.

13.3 Temporary interruptions may occur due to maintenance, repairs, technical failures, external service-provider issues, building/society-related issues, infrastructure failures, or other circumstances beyond the reasonable control of management.

13.4 Such temporary interruption of an amenity or facility shall not ordinarily entitle a Member to a refund, compensation, or extension of membership.

14. Circumstances Beyond Reasonable Control

14.1 The Study Corner shall not be held responsible for temporary disruption, inconvenience, restricted access, closure, or interruption of services arising from circumstances beyond its reasonable control. Such circumstances may include, without limitation:

  • electricity or power failures;
  • internet or telecommunications outages;
  • water supply interruptions;
  • equipment or infrastructure failures;
  • building or society-related issues;
  • lift or common-area failures;
  • fire or flooding;
  • heavy rainfall or extreme weather;
  • natural disasters;
  • public emergencies;
  • government, municipal, police, or regulatory directions;
  • strikes or civil disturbances;
  • emergency maintenance;
  • circumstances affecting access to the building or premises; or
  • other unforeseen circumstances beyond the reasonable control of The Study Corner.

14.2 Temporary disruption caused by such circumstances shall not ordinarily entitle a Member to a refund, compensation, or membership extension.

14.3 In the event of a prolonged closure or significant disruption, management may, depending upon the nature and duration of the circumstances, consider an appropriate membership adjustment or extension at its discretion and subject to applicable law.

15. Suspension or Termination of Membership

15.1 In case of violation of these Terms & Conditions, repeated disturbance, misconduct, misuse of facilities, fraudulent membership usage, safety concerns, or behaviour adversely affecting other Members, staff, or the facility, The Study Corner reserves the right to:

  • issue a warning;
  • temporarily suspend access; or
  • terminate the membership.

15.2 Serious or repeated violations may result in termination of membership without refund, subject to applicable law.

15.3 Management reserves the right to refuse or discontinue access where reasonably necessary for the safety, security, discipline, or proper operation of The Study Corner.

16. Limitation of Responsibility

16.1 Members use The Study Corner and its facilities responsibly and at their own discretion.

16.2 The Study Corner shall not be responsible for loss or inconvenience resulting from temporary interruption of internet, electricity, air-conditioning, water supply, building facilities, or other services where such interruption is beyond its reasonable control.

16.3 The Study Corner shall not be responsible for any loss, theft, or damage to a Member’s personal belongings.

16.4 Nothing contained in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.

17. Changes to Terms & Conditions

17.1 The Study Corner reserves the right to reasonably modify, amend, or update these Terms & Conditions, facility rules, membership procedures, operating timings, and policies from time to time.

17.2 Material changes may be communicated through the website, Member portal, email, WhatsApp, notices displayed at the premises, or another appropriate communication method.

17.3 Continued use of the facility following applicable notification of updated Terms shall constitute acceptance of such updated Terms, subject to applicable law.

18. Acceptance & Member Consent

By completing registration, purchasing a membership/pass, making payment, and/or using The Study Corner facilities, the Member confirms that:

  • they have read and understood these Terms & Conditions;
  • the information provided during registration is accurate to the best of their knowledge;
  • they agree to comply with the rules and policies of The Study Corner;
  • they acknowledge that the premises are under CCTV surveillance;
  • they acknowledge and consent to the use of AI-assisted monitoring and analytics as described in these Terms; and
  • they understand that violation of these Terms may result in suspension or termination of access.
